Welcome to Saplings
Gemma, Robin and Michelle welcome you to Saplings. We enjoy a lively, friendly environment where children are inquisitive and keen to explore.
The children in Saplings are encouraged to learn through play and exploration, through being active, creative and thinking critically. The staff aim for the children to be inspired by their experiences; motivated by stimulating environments and equipment; fully engaged in their learning and, ultimately, to be empowered to continue to explore and learn themselves, independently. This is managed through carefully planned lessons and activities and opportunities for adult-led and adult- directed sessions as well as ample opportunity for child-initiated learning.

What to Expect, When?
Tapestry is our online learning journal. The children’s ‘wow’ moments of learning will be shared on this platform and this also allows you to add your own observations and comment on the photos, videos and text we have added. We hope that this will give you a really clear knowledge of your child’s development.
During our daily Muddy Maths sessions the children will explore number, space, shape and measurement through our outdoor environment. Through concrete experiences we will lay the foundations for future Mathematical develop.
Learning in Saplings
Our learning this term has been focused on celebrations.
The children have been learning about celebrations important to them and those important to other people.
The children in Saplings have celebrated Harvest festival, Bonfire night, Halloween, Diwali and Christmas.
We also focused on helping others and our environment. The children helped the rest of the school gain points towards our Silver Bat award by planting a wild flower garden and by building a bug hotel. Saplings held a cake sale in aid of Children in Need. We learnt about Remembrance Day and created some beautiful artwork for our local church.
With daily Muddy Maths and monthly natural learning at Stover Country Park we have had a very busy term.
